The DA stands in full support of the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality’s #getNMBworkingagain campaign and can’t wait to play our part in this worthwhile cause.
Tomorrow, 5 November 2022, Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Cllr Retief Odendaal, who is spearheading the campaign, will launch this civic movement by sweeping and cleaning in front of City Hall.
Through this campaign residents are encouraged to join with the municipality in taking responsibility for the state of the metro.
The #getNMBworkingagain campaign will take place on a monthly basis and will be theme driven.
The theme for tomorrow is “My 50 metres for NMB”. This is a call for residents to sweep and clean 50 metres of road in their community.
DA councillors and at least 250 activists will be involved in more than 25 activities across the metro to join civic society in this effort to create a clean city.
The DA and its partners in the multi-party coalition government have been making progress during their short 44 days in office. More than 9000 potholes and 4500 streetlights have been fixed. Furthermore, the elections of all 60 ward committees have been completed and roads are being constructed and upgraded.
Although the coalition government is clearly making progress, the metro has been left so broken by the ANC that the government will need the assistance of residents to ensure Nelson Mandela Bay gets back on track.
Together we can get Nelson Mandela Bay working again.
