The DA stood in solidarity with all victims of sexual abuse and violence in Gauteng’s schools as we fight to ensure that every child’s learning environment is free from intimidation, abuse and any other form of violence.
DA Gauteng Provincial Leader, John Moodey MPL, and DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Education, Khume Ramulifho MPL, was joined by the DA’s National Spokespeople, Refiloe Nt’sekhe MPL and Phumzile van Damme MP in leading DA activists in a silent protest at Gauteng Premier David Makhura’s office.
The DA once again called on Premier David Makhura to act decisively and show leadership by urgently appointing a commission of inquiry into sexual abuse and related matters at Gauteng’s schools. The Provincial Leader and Shadow MEC for Education delivered a Memorandum to the Office of the Premier.
The scourge of sexual abuse in Gauteng has shaken the lives of many learners, their families and communities. For far too long, young people have been robbed of their innocence and dignity.
Our learners deserve to be kept safe in our schools.
