Today, 31 August 2023, Councillor Timothy Jantjes was elected as the new Deputy Executive Mayor of the Kouga Municipality at a Council Meeting in Jeffreys Bay.
Cllr Jantjes takes over the position that was left vacant after Cllr Hattingh Bornman was elected as Kouga Executive Mayor.
Mayor Bornman took over the reins from Horatio Hendricks, who has been appointed as a DA member in the Eastern Cape Legislature.
The DA congratulates Cllr Jantjes, who will build on the good work started by the DA when we took over the Kouga government in 2016. Deputy Mayor Jantjes was first elected as a councillor in 2018 and is currently also serving as the mayoral committee member for electro and mechanical services.
He has shown himself to be an excellent public representative and has a proven track-record of selfless service to the communities of Kouga.
The DA has full confidence in the abilities of Cllr Jantjes and we know that he will provide valuable support to Mayor Bornman in continuing to implement the DA’s mandate of clean governance and service delivery.
Issued by Dr Vicky Knoetze MPL - Tsitsi-Kouga Constituency Leader
