The latest motion of no confidence brought against Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor, Retief Odendaal, and the coalition government by the ANC/EFF Doomsday Coalition, is yet another attempt to derail progress and the fight against corruption in the Metro.

Mayor Odendaal and his team have been a breath of fresh air in our city over the last eight months. Nelson Mandela Bay has seldom had such a hard-working mayor and a team that is committed to restoring good governance and service delivery to our people.

The DA is committed to the multi-party coalition government in Nelson Mandela Bay, but we are disappointed that some of our coalition partners have decided to jump ship and pen their signatures to this motion of no confidence, ultimately stabbing a knife in our backs.

However, the DA is prepared to continue to negotiate, and we will keep our door open. We believe that sanity will prevail and that this motion of no confidence will fail, because we believe that the majority of councillors in Nelson Mandela Bay know that Mayor Odendaal and his team are doing good work, and that this good work must continue

The ANC and EFF do not care about the people of Nelson Mandela Bay. They only care about lining their pockets and looting the coffers of the city.

We remain resolute in our commitment to fight for what is right, to ensure good governance, and to safeguard the funds entrusted to us, ensuring that these funds are used to benefit all residents of this great Metro.

The DA will not allow the corrupt ANC/EFF Doomsday Coalition to bring this city to its knees. We will fight for the people of Nelson Mandela Bay. We will fight to ensure that the work we have started continues and that residents get the services they are entitled to.
