The Democratic Alliance condemns the appointment of Moeketsi Dichaba
as municipal manager of the Nama-Khoi municipality. His record as
former municipal manager of the Phokwane municipality shows that he is
not the best person for this crucial position.

Mr. Dichaba left his former post as municipal manager of the Phokwane
municipality with a string of financial misconduct allegations in his
wake. If found guilty of the investigation that the national
government launched into these allegations, Mr. Dichaba would likely
have been barred from working at another municipality for five years.
Why should he now be rewarded with the opportunity to do the same
damage to Nama-Khoi as was done in Phokwane?

Following the outcome of a worrying audit report three years ago, a DA
councillor in Phokwane laid criminal charges against Mr. Dichaba.
Since then, no audit report had been presented to the Phokwane
council.

We cannot accept the dumping of Mr. Dichaba in Nama-Khoi. The
Nama-Khoi municipality is facing serious difficulties and needs
capable, competent leadership. It does not need a troublemaker who has
shown that he should not be trusted with public funds.
