South Africa recorded 11 125 new confirmed Covid-19 infections on Sunday.
According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), as of Sunday, the country recorded 3 031 694 laboratory-confirmed cases. There has been one new Covid-19 death, bringing the confirmed death toll to 89 966.
"The NICD… reports that 11 125 new Covid-19 cases have been identified in South Africa, representing a 23.8% positivity rate," the NICD said.
As of Sunday, Gauteng recorded 992 410 confirmed cases, the Western Cape 522 587 and KwaZulu-Natal 522 286.
Gauteng recorded 7 929 new cases on Sunday, the Western Cape 807 and KwaZulu-Natal 687.
The cumulative number of recoveries is 2 858 144, with a recovery rate of 94.3%.
South Africa conducted 19 761 834 cumulative tests, of which 46 708 were carried out in the last 24-hour cycle.
According to the Department of Health, 26 348 830 vaccine doses have been administered. Of those, 22 145 were administered in the last 24-hour cycle.
To date, 14 764 525 adults are fully vaccinated, and 591 022 children have received one vaccine dose.
