South Africa recorded 1 393 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday, which represented a 5.7% positivity rate.
According to a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), as of Wednesday, the country recorded 3 707 089 laboratory-confirmed cases.
No new Covid-19 deaths were reported in the last 48 hours, with the death toll at 99 899.
Most new cases were recorded in Gauteng.

- Gauteng - 34%
- Western Cape - 25%
- KwaZulu-Natal - 22%
- Eastern Cape - 5%
- Free State - 3%
- Limpopo - 3%
- Mpumalanga - 3%
- North West - 3%
- Northern Cape - 1%
Gauteng recorded 480 new cases on Wednesday, the Western Cape 348 and KwaZulu-Natal 303.
As of Wednesday, Gauteng recorded 1 204 750 cumulative cases, KwaZulu-Natal 658 054 and the Western Cape 647 831.
There were 41 new hospital admissions in the last 24-hour reporting cycle. As of Wednesday, 1 980 people were in public and private hospitals for Covid-19.
South Africa conducted 23 643 793 cumulative tests, of which 24 453 were carried out in the last 24-hour cycle.
According to the Department of Health, 33 201 427 vaccine doses have been administered. Of those, 89 136 were administered on Wednesday.
To date, 17 377 912 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children 12 and older, 1 877 838 vaccine doses have been administered.
