South Africa recorded 4 379 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, which represent a 23.1% positivity rate.
There were also 30 new Covid-19 deaths, which increased the death toll to 91 228.
According to a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases in South Africa to date is 3 472 436.
Gauteng is the most impacted, with 1 137 106 confirmed cases in total, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 615 912 and the Western Cape with 597 920.
Most new cases are from the Western Cape (27%) followed by Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal with 21% each. The Eastern Cape accounted for 11%; the Free State and Mpumalanga 5% each; the Northern Cape 4%; and Limpopo and the North West 3% each.
The Western Cape recorded 1 181 new cases on Sunday, with Gauteng recording 935 and KwaZulu-Natal 934.
There was an increase of 27 hospital admissions on Sunday. There are 9 353 people in public and private hospitals.
South Africa has conducted 21 286 849 Covid-19 tests.
According to the Department of Health, 27 977 830 vaccines have been administered. Of those, 877 were administered on Sunday.
To date, 15 603 067 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children aged 12 and older, 910 581 vaccine doses have been administered.
