More than 34-million vaccine doses have been administered in South Africa.
The Department of Health said 34 054 426 vaccine doses had been administered, of which 57 375 were done on Thursday.
To date, 17 614 716 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children aged 12 and older, 1 999 730 doses of vaccine have been administered. More than 2 390 000 booster shots have been given.
South Africa recorded 1 481 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday.
Three new Covid-19 deaths were reported in the last 48 hours, bringing the confirmed death toll to 100 075.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported that 1 481 new Covid-19 cases have been identified in South Africa, representing a 5.8% positivity rate.
Most new cases were recorded in Gauteng, which accounted for 40%, followed by the Western Cape with 23%. KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 21%; Eastern Cape 6%; Free State and Mpumalanga 3% each; North West 2%; Limpopo and the Northern Cape 1% each.
Gauteng recorded 590 new cases on Thursday, the Western Cape 341, and KwaZulu-Natal 310.
According to a statement by the NICD, as of Thursday, the country recorded 3 728 689 laboratory-confirmed cases.
Gauteng is the most impacted with 1 213 184 cases, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 662 584 and the Western Cape with 652 908.
There were 55 new hospital admissions in the last 24-hour reporting cycle. As of Thursday, 2 140 people were in hospital for Covid-19.
South Africa conducted 23 996 380 tests, of which 25 340 were carried out in the last 24-hour cycle.
