More than 28-million vaccines have been administered in South Africa.
According to the Department of Health, 28 032 640 vaccines were administered and of those, 52 318 were administered on Monday.
To date, 15 632 817 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children aged 12 and older, 920 363 vaccine doses have been administered.
South Africa recorded 3 232 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, representing an 18.6% positivity rate.
Most new cases are from Gauteng (28%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (25%). The Western Cape accounted for 23%; the Eastern Cape 9%; the Free State 5%; the North West 4%; Mpumalanga 3%; and Limpopo and the Northern Cape 2% each. Gauteng recorded 908 new cases on Monday, with KwaZulu-Natal recording 797 and the Western Cape 732.
There were 87 new Covid-19 deaths, increasing the death toll to 91 312.
According to a National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) statement, the country has recorded a total of 3 475 512 laboratory-confirmed cases. Gauteng is the most impacted, with 1 137 868 total cases, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 616 684 cases and the Western Cape with 598 654.
There was an increase of 127 hospital admissions. Currently, there are 9 283 people in public and private hospitals.
South Africa has conducted 21 304 188 tests and 17 339 of those were carried out on Monday.
