South Africa recorded 3 118 new Covid-19 infections on Wednesday, representing an 8.7% positivity rate.
According to a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), as of Wednesday, the country recorded 3 665 149 laboratory-confirmed cases. Six new Covid-19-related deaths were reported in the last 48 hours, bringing the confirmed death toll to 98 978.
Gauteng recorded 1 114 new cases on Wednesday, the Western Cape 658 and KwaZulu-Natal 463.

- KwaZulu-Natal - 15%
- Mpumalanga - 9%
- North West - 7%
- Free State - 4%
- Eastern Cape - 3%
- Limpopo - 3%
- Northern Cape - 1%
As of Wednesday, Gauteng recorded 1 189 546 cases, KwaZulu-Natal 650 562 and the Western Cape 638 096.
There were 86 new hospital admissions in the last 24-hour cycle. As of Wednesday, 3 097 people were in public and private hospitals for Covid-19.
South Africa conducted 22 964 127 cumulative tests, of which 35 870 were carried out in the last 24-hour cycle.
According to the Department of Health, 31 218 528 vaccine doses have been administered. Of those, 88 698 were administered on Wednesday.
To date, 16 920 679 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children aged 12 and older, 1 533 248 vaccine doses have been administered.
