South Africa recorded 1 682 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday, which represented a 5.8% positivity rate.
According to a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), as of Thursday, the country recorded 3 700 484 laboratory-confirmed cases.
Three new Covid-19 deaths were recorded in the last 48 hours, bringing the confirmed death toll to 99 829.
Most new cases were recorded in Gauteng.

- KwaZulu-Natal - 19%
- Mpumalanga - 5%
- Eastern Cape - 3%
- Free State - 3%
- North West - 3%
- Limpopo - 2%
- Northern Cape - 2%
Gauteng recorded 571 new cases on Thursday, the Western Cape 490 and KwaZulu-Natal 324.
Gauteng has recorded 1 202 361 cumulative cases, KwaZulu-Natal 656 723 and the Western Cape 646 120.
There were 41 new hospital admissions in the last 24-hour reporting cycle. As of Thursday, 2 060 people were in public and private hospitals for Covid-19.
South Africa conducted 23 514 233 cumulative tests, of which 29 181 were carried out in the last 24-hour cycle.
According to the Department of Health, 3 700 484 vaccine doses have been administered. Of those, 78 671 were administered on Thursday.
To date, 17 301 226 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children 12 and older, 1 843 345 doses of vaccine have been administered.
