South Africa recorded 1 456 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, representing a 7.2% positivity rate.
According to a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), as of Sunday, the country recorded 3 658 547 laboratory-confirmed cases. One new Covid-19-related death has been recorded, bringing the confirmed death toll to 98 667.

- Gauteng - 39%
- Western Cape - 20%
- KwaZulu-Natal - 12%
- North West - 9%
- Mpumalanga - 7%
- Free State - 5%
- Eastern Cape - 3%
- Limpopo - 3%
- Northern Cape - 2%
Gauteng recorded 562 new cases on Sunday, the Western Cape 285 and KwaZulu-Natal 170.
Gauteng recorded 1 187 079 cumulative cases, KwaZulu-Natal 649 649 and the Western Cape 636 884.
There were 17 new hospital admissions in the last 24-hour reporting cycle. As of Sunday, 3 256 people were in public and private hospitals for Covid-19.
South Africa conducted 22 880 879 cumulative tests, of which 20 288 were carried out in the last 24-hour cycle.
According to the Department of Health, 30 964 954 vaccine doses have been administered. Of those, 6 111 were administered on Sunday.
To date, 16 843 047 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children aged 12 and older, 1 471 168 vaccine doses have been administered.
