The Congress of South African Trade Unions(COSATU in the Eastern Cape will be observing the International Day for Decent Work at four(4) major centres across the province on Friday,6 October 2023, as part of the national programme of the federation.
The majority of South African workers in both private and public sectors work under terrible conditions and COSATU always keeps the flame of hope for decent work alive though the ongoing struggle for decent work.
On this day, COSATU will be focusing on the health sector at the following four centres.
Gqeberha
The march will start at Nangoza Jebe Hall at 9h00 and proceed to Empilweni Hospital where picketing will be done, and a memorandum will be handed over at 13h00.
King William’s Town
The march will start at NEHAWU Offices at 10h00 and proceed to Gateway Clinic where picketing will be done, and a memorandum will be handed over at 13h00.
Komani
The march will start at Tobi Kula Indoor Sports Centre at 10h00 and proceed to Frontier Hospital where picketing will be done, and a memorandum will be handed over at 13h00.
Mthatha
The march will start at Freedom Square at 10h00 and proceed to Gateway Clinic where picketing will be done, and a memorandum will be handed over at 13h00.
All workers are encouraged to participate in these activities in the true spirit of “An injury to one is an injury to all”. These actions are protected in terms of the Section 77 Certificate issued by Nedlac.
