Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications on Tuesday welcomed the appointment of the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC’s) new board members.
"We are looking forward to working together with them in taking the SABC to new heights," committee chairperson, Humphrey Maxegwana, said in a statement.
The board members were appointed by President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday morning.
Maxegwana said the committee hoped to work with the new board in finding solutions to challenges faced by the public broadcaster, including the matters raised by the Broadcasting, Electronic, Media and Allied Workers Union (BEMAWU) and the SABC 8 journalists.

Maxegwana also took an opportunity to welcome the appointment of the incoming Communications Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi.
"We're looking forward to working together with her in taking the department to the next level".
The presidency said that Zuma had designated Bongumusa Makhathini as chairperson of the SABC and Febe Potgieter-Gqubule as deputy chairperson of the board.
The other members who have been appointed for a period of five years, with immediate effect are:
Mr Krish Naidoo, Ms Khanyisile Kweyama, Mr John Matisonn, Mr Mathatha Tsedu, Ms Rachel Kalidass, Mr Michael Markovitz, Mr Victor Rambau, Mr Dinkwanyane Mohuba and Mr Jack Phalane.
