The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs extends its deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family of Inkatha Freedom Party’s founder and leader, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi on his passing.

The committee is saddened by the loss of Prince Buthelezi, a traditional leader who had a wealth of experience and wisdom in many aspects of leadership particularly on traditional matters. The committee noted with appreciation and was impressed with the wisdom he displayed when he led the transition between the departure of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini and the crowning of his son, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.

The committee wishes to extend its special heartfelt condolences to the daughter of Prince Buthelezi, Princess Sbuyiselwe Buthelezi who is a member of the committee. “Princess Buthelezi and her family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of mourning” said the Chairperson of the committee, Mr Fikile Xasa.

The committee was encouraged by such great traditional leadership which Prince Buthelezi displayed and which will remain as part of the shining legacy he leaves behind. The committee believes strongly that the current and future traditional leaders will learn from.  “May his soul rest in eternal peace” said Mr Xasa.

Issued by the Parliamentary Communication Services on behalf of the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Fikile Xasa
