The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department would like to advise customers of a supply interruption in parts of the Victoria and Alfred (V&A) Waterfront and Somerset Hospital areas on Saturday, 10 June 2023, from 22:00 until 07:00 the next day, alternatively Saturday, 17 June 2023 at the same time. There is a second interruption planned for 24 June 2023 to complete the work, weather permitting. The City will update customers. This is critical maintenance to a major substation in the area, which needs to be carried out. The maintenance work ensures reliable electricity supply for residents and businesses in the area. Read more below:

‘The work will enable City officials to carry out the necessary maintenance at the Green Point Main Substation. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their cooperation. It is important for residents and businesses in the area to remember that the supply could be restored at any time and all electrical installations must be treated as live for the full duration of the interruption,' said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Councillor Beverley van Reenen.
