DealMakers has named Pan-African law firm Bowmans leading legal adviser in Africa by deal flow for the fourth consecutive year at a gala event held in Johannesburg at the end of February.
According to DealMakers’ editor, Marylou Greig, the awards event “celebrates the achievements in the Mergers & Acquisition industry. It is the one evening of the year which applauds the achievements of the Investment Bankers, Corporate Financiers, Lawyers and Auditors and recognises the hard work done”.
Bowmans’ chairman and senior partner, Robert Legh says, “The recognition is particularly gratifying because it aligns with our vision of being acknowledged as the pre-eminent law firm in Africa for corporate, institutional and public sector clients’ most important and complex matters and therefore being the first choice for clients and employees”.
The accolade comes a year and a half after Bowmans announced its new brand name and ‘one firm’ approach to the market and is the latest in a string of accolades demonstrating the success of this approach.
Earlier this year Bowmans was named Law Firm of the Year at the South African Professional Services Awards event and South African Law Firm of the Year in the Chambers Africa Awards for Excellence. In addition, its African transactional leadership was recognised in MergerMarket’s Middle East and Africa league tables, when the firm was identified as top legal adviser in Africa by deal count in 2017.
Legh concludes, “This is a wonderful start to 2018! Being recognised not only by our local peers, but also by various international organisations conducting independent research, serves as a strong external endorsement of our achievements.”
