After winning three seats in the 2024 national and provincial election, Build One South Africa (BOSA) announced that it will be sending leader Mmusi Maimane and Nobuntu-Hlazo Webster to the National Assembly and Ayanda Allie to the Gauteng Legislature.
BOSA spokesperson Roger Solomons explained that these candidates were ranked number 1, 2 and 3 on the party’s proportional representation lists.
The party also argued that the candidates were all under the age of 45 and that they possessed a broad range of skills and a depth of experience across many sectors.
BOSA received 194 000 votes in the national elections, with Solomons saying this indicated that BOSA had appeal in all communities and across all indicators – young and old, rich and poor, black, white, Indian and coloured.
“For BOSA, this is only the start. What remains undeniable is the desperate need for a centrist platform holding the line against division – be it racial, ethnic or linguistic,” the party highlighted.
Solomons said his party believed that if a government of national unity was established, it must develop a plan to deliver a job in every home.
For the first time in South Africa’s democracy, some form of coalition government is required at national level. This after the African National Congress lost its majority in the 2024 national and provincial elections.
Solomons pledged that BOSA’s leadership would work constructively with the established government and would hold it accountable when need be.
“…this is the moment in our nation where the best leaders must serve in Cabinet. Constitutionalism must be upheld, a safety net for the poor is strengthened and a market-based economy is ignited for growth. We will work with other centrists parties in Parliament in this regard,” said BOSA.
