The Bargaining Council for the Civil Engineering Industry (BCCEI) has reached a three-year wage agreement with the Building, Construction and Allied Workers Union, the National Union of Mineworkers and the South African Forum of Civil Engineering Contractors, which would now be submitted for promulgation.

A final agreement would have been submitted to Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant in June, but owing to a deadlock in talks, the agreement had been delayed.

The Minister would now have 60 days to consider, approve and promulgate the agreement. A further 21 days would be set aside to allow for the submission of public comment on the agreement.
