The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Ms Thandi Modise, will deliver the opening address at the Annual NCOP Members Induction Programme on Tuesday, 30 January 2018 in Cape Town.

In every democratic dispensation, the legislative arm plays a pivotal role, as Members of Parliament are elected representatives who serve as the voice of the people. As such, Parliamentarians are accountable to ordinary citizens, hence the necessity for all members to receive training on a number of procedures, to assist in the execution of their duties.

  • Oversight and accountability, which will consider the oversight and accountability model, the role of Committees, and the purpose of oversight and accountability;
  • Facilitation of public participation and involvement, focusing on case studies; and
  • Interventions, including both provincial and national interventions.
