The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) has learnt with shock and disappointment that the University of Cape Town (UCT) Council seeks to suspend its Vice Chancellor, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng. Professor Phakeng, a full professor of Mathematics Education, is a highly regarded National Research Foundation (NRF)-rated scientist. Prior to her appointment as Vice Chancellor of UCT, she was a Vice Principal of Research and Innovation at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
