The ruling African National Congress (ANC) on Thursday sent its condolences to the family of KwaZulu-Natal ANC spokesperson Ricardo Mthembu, after he passed away from Covid-19 complications on Wednesday.
Mthembu was part of the ANC Provincial Executive Committee and former mayor of the KwaDukuza local municipality.
He will be laid to rest on Friday in accordance with Covid-19 regulations.
ANC national spokesperson Pule Mabe said Mthembu would be remembered for building ANC structures in the Ilembe areas during volatile times.
“Mvelase [Mthembu] gave his whole energy and time to the work of the African National Congress; serving the people of KwaZulu-Natal with great distinction,” said Mabe.
He urged ANC members and the larger society to intensify the war against Covid-19 in honour of Mthembu.
