Dr Pixley ka Isaka Seme House: The vote of no confidence in the Mayor of eThekwini Municipality Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda has failed dismally.

The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal salutes ANC councillors and those from small parties in eThekwini Municipality who stood firm and crushed the Multi-Party Charter led by the Democratic Alliance and its stooges - Inkatha Freedom Party and Action SA.

The DA's new addition to their executive roster of puppets, the Economic Freedom Fighters also failed and ended up leaving the council meeting.

The Multi-Party Charter’s clueless strategists and propagandists are not only walking around with their tails between their legs but will forever flirt with humiliation.

Instead of dividing the ANC, their amateurish attempt to pass a vote of no confidence in Cde Mxolisi Kaunda has served as a catalyst for the unity of deployees of the ANC in the council.

Following this sweet victory, cadres and volunteers of the movement across eThekwini have vowed to do more to ensure that the Multi-Party Charter's plans of returning KZN to a Bantustan are defeated through the ballot box in the upcoming national elections.

We pause to salute Comrade Mxolisi Kaunda, deployees of the ANC in the council and all categories of staff for doing everything in their power to rebuild the city after few years of ravaging floods that have destroyed infrastructure and displaced families.

We pay tribute to small political parties in the council for the display of maturity today. They prioritized the needs of residents and have refused to be hoodwinked by the DA.

While we understand that political parties will always differ about interventions aimed at  addressing disasters and socio-economic challenges, the DA is known for hijacking and weaponizing genuine concerns of vulnerable communities in order to score cheap political points.

It is the same DA that has failed to raise a finger against the IFP despite evidence of widespread corruption in IFP controlled municipalities such as Zululand, uThukela, King Cetshwayo, Jozini and Umhlathuze to name but a few.

We are convinced that DA councillors are benefitting from the nail-biting corruption contest involving IFP Mayors in this province.

Lastly, we are not surprised by EFFs’ utterances and reckless behavior during the sitting.

EFFs divorce papers have been served on the ANC. And we shall respond accordingly at the right time.

Without fail, EFF councillors are showing willingness to sleep with the DA, a modern right-wing to far-right political party that has mastered the art of pulling power strings behind the scenes.

EFF’s association with DA is the reason why communities are rejecting the party.

Ordinary members of society have realized that the party has nothing to offer in eThekwini and the province in general.

EFFs dismal failure to rollout build-up events to their Manifesto Rally is a nail in the coffin.
