The 13th Provincial Conference adopted comprehensive resolutions and plans to address the socioeconomic problems of the people Gauteng. This plan places the people at the centre of politics, governance and economics. It is a plan that will find resonance with the youth and women of Gauteng, the working class and middle strata, townships and informal settlements, a plan to deal with the economy and jobs, a plan to decisively deal with crime and corruption and a plan to campaign against the high cost of living.
Conference has decided to proceed with Rapid Land Release with immediate effect. We shall not wait for the parliamentary constitutional review process.
The Conference received and welcomed the report on the e-tolls and called on the provincial government to expedite its negotiation with national government to find a permanent solution to this saga.
Delegates were emphatically unanimous that vigilance should be the order of the day in dealing with the current crisis of corruption in the public and private sectors noting that corruption networks will not accept their fates without a fight.
In responding to the question of the skills revolution with the Gauteng Province the Conference amongst other resolutions resolved to ensure that all TVET colleges within the province will be upgraded so that they meet the required standards in terms of technology and infrastructure in order to produce a skilled workforce with the relevant technical ability to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the 4th Industrial Revolution and to play a meaning full role in the economy of the province.
The Provincial Conference has paid sufficient attention to the need for Gauteng to increase the number of cadres with the relevant skills, experience and qualification in the ranks of the movement and as such resolved to embark on a deliberately programme to ensure that we recruit and train young people.
The organisational renewal plan that our Conference adopted has a strong component of political education and training which includes skills development for every BEC member, academic training for the all young leaders and ideological development of all members as part of the Decade of the Cadre.
The above plan furthermore has a specific focus on the recruitment and political development of young people and the empowerment of women so that both youth and women play their full role in the political life and leadership structures of our movement. In this regard, the renewal of the ANCWL and ANCYL is a matter of critical importance for the entire ANC.
