The civil rights organisation AfriForum welcomes the news that Shaun Abrahams, National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), must vacate his position.
This follows after the North Gauteng High Court this morning delivered judgement that Abrahams’s post must be declared void.
“According to the Constitution, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) must act without fear, favour and prejudice. It has become clear that Abrahams doesn’t adhere to these constitutional principles.
South Africa could no longer afford to have an NDPP that protects alleged corrupt persons such as President Jacob Zuma,” says Monique Taute, Head of AfriForum’s Anti-Corruption Unit.
