Following three months of careful deliberation with party leadership, ActionSA member Nkuli Mbundu has resigned from his position as a councillor on the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) Council. His resignation came into effect on Thursday.
Mbundu remains a member of ActionSA and will continue to support the party ahead of its objective to unseat the African National Congress (ANC) in 2024.
“Over the last 18 months in council serving as both the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Economic Development and Councillor, Mbundu has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, with a deep commitment to ethical leadership,” said ActionSA CoJ Caucus Chief Whip Marcel Coutriers.
ActionSA has acknowledged the role Mbundu played as Economic Development MMC in the advancement of critical service delivery programmes which focused on reducing unemployment in the city and advocating for policies that would bring regulation to the informal trading space.
The party asserted that Mbundu epitomised its values as he decried corruption and maladministration in government.
“ActionSA appreciates the contribution that Mbundu made to the City of Johannesburg in his very short tenure as both a councillor and MMC. The party advocates for ethical leadership and professional public service and Mbundu has demonstrated these values into practical implementation,” Coutriers said.
