ActionSA will write to City of Ekurhuleni Mayor, Sivuyile Ngodwana, to urgently intervene in the ongoing electricity outages in Tembisa where ongoing civil unrest by the community has seen the only remaining customer care centre being burnt down last week. 

The community of Tembisa has seen increasing levels of electricity outages over the past few weeks which, alongside declining levels of service delivery by the ANC-EFF coalition, has led to unrest as residents become desperate for the situation to be resolved.

The ANC-EFF coalition should urgently provide basic services or the situation in Tembisa, and end their continued power struggle between themselves which has seen the swearing in of mayoral members of the committee (MMCs) continually postponed.  

As a constructive opposition, ActionSA visited the community of Tembisa this week to listen to the concerns of residents and will engage with Mayor Ngodwana and provide him with possible solutions that could assist the community. 

The frustration of Tembisa residents has now seen to Customer Care Centres burnt down, which means that service delivery will continue to decline and contribute to additional revenue loses in the city at a time when the city is already experiencing financial strain. 

This as the current coalition have shown themselves to be more concerned about positions in government and access to resources than the needs of the residents they are supposed to serve. 

ActionSA, a political party committed to ethical leadership, will continue to assist the residents of Tembisa and escalate their concerns to ensure that their voices are heard. 

Electricity outages leads to safety concerns, communications disruptions and possible job losses, and that is why ActionSA believes the situation should be turned around.
