The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal notes the clueless and hapless statement issued by ActionSA’s Parliamentary Leader, Athol Trollip in which he seeks to blame the DA-run uMngeni Municipality for the problems facing the UMngeni-Uthukela Water Board.

In Mr. Trollip’s and ActionSA’s made up reality, they have come to the conclusion that the local municipality is responsible for sewage and water when in fact it is the responsibility of the ANC-run district municipality. This information is readily available through google.

For someone who has been a Mayor himself, Mr. Trollip should have known this.

ActionSA’s desperate attempt to deflect from the growing anger across the country to their newfound coalition with the EFF is now visible for all to see, and no one will be fooled by it, except ActionSA.

The DA calls on Mr. Trollip and ActionSA to immediately apologise to Mayor Chris Pappas and the people of uMngeni for the in unwarranted and illogical claims made.

It is the least they could do to salvage whatever credibility they may still hold with the public.
