ActionSA has noted the deliberate effort orchestrated by the Democratic Alliance (DA) to falsely accuse us of the very actions they have repeatedly demonstrated themselves to be guilty of, that being treachery, dishonesty and hypocrisy.
South Africans, particularly the residents of Tshwane, should be aware of the fact that the DA has been actively pursuing a covert alliance with the ANC, an effort intended to jeopardise the governing coalition in favour of their desire to consolidate an exclusive arrangement with the ANC. Accusing us of disloyalty while engaging in such deceitful tactics is both shameful and hypocritical.
The fact is that the DA is at the centre of the instability across metros in Gauteng. From their disastrous Randall Williams, their abandoning of former Mayor Mpho Phalatse, to their deliberate spoiling of votes in the election of the City of Tshwane Speaker – a position that was supposed to be filled by an ActionSA candidate with the support of the coalition – these actions, and many others, have collectively contributed to the collapse of many working coalitions and the subsequent instability.
Further to this, ActionSA structures and voters have rightly raised growing frustration about the disparate levels of service delivery in Tshwane, which is impacting residents most fundamentally, especially those living in townships across Tshwane.
Consequently, as any responsible independent political party would, we committed to protecting the interests of our constituents and transparently communicated our initiation of a review process of our continued participation in the current coalition. This review will focus on ensuring we delivery on our strategic priorities and manifesto pledges, including equitable service delivery, inner-city rejuvenation, and combating crime and illegal immigration.
The DA ought to reflect on the fact that it is their own leaders who enjoy free taxpayer funded flights, drive German SUVs with blue lights and VIP protection, and sit in an DA/ANC government with the very people they spent 23 years condemning as treasonous and corrupt criminals, yet now hypocritically condemn us for engaging as is our right as any political party.
Perhaps through reflection, the DA might diagnose their glaring hypocrisy, which we believe stems from an insatiable quest for power, driven by shallowness, deceit, and an overcompensating superiority complex.
So, in respect of the coordinated attacks from the DA, who mistakenly behave as if we are a subsidiary of their dishonest enterprise, ActionSA wishes to affirm that we will forge ahead with our review of our working relationship within the Tshwane coalition over the next two weeks and will formally pronounce on the outcomes at the conclusion of our internal processes.
ActionSA is and will forever only be beholden to our members and supporters, and the delivery of quality services to all residents of the nation’s capital. We will not be beholden to a collective of paid bots with scripts drafted from the DA’s Head Office.
Importantly, if anyone wishes to contribute to our discussions as a party, they are welcome to join and become members of ActionSA. Let this statement leave no ambiguity about the fact that we are an independent political party, with structures and internal processes that we will continue to adhere to, regardless of undue external interference.
ActionSA is not in the business of interfering in the affairs of other political parties and will maintain this courtesy and ensure that we continue to engage transparently on every issue of importance to South Africans, regardless of whether others choose to extend the same respect.
