Joanmariae Fubbs, the chairperson for the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry who represents the African National Congress in South Africa’s National Assembly, has launched her second book of poetry.
‘A new dawn for humanity’ features 30 of her poems and has been inspired by a new era for all South Africans.
Her poems seek to 'unlock the pathway to our purpose’. A new generation of youth, who are inspired by the opportunity life has given them, are carving out a new future.
They are no longer prepared to remain angry frustrated ‘wageless veterans’. Instead, the youth will not rest until, in the spirit of thuma mina, ‘poverty is overcome’.
Joanmariae Fubbs has been an activist since her early student days. She holds numerous academic qualifications including a BA Hons in Clinical Psychology (Unisa), an MSc Development Planning, University of the Witwatersrand, and an MSc in Public Policy and Management, University of London. She remains committed to an inclusive broad-based employment creating economy.
She enjoys music and debating issues with colleagues and compatriots. She is married with four children and eleven grandchildren.
