A poll conducted in November last year by research house Ipsos indicates that 72% of South Africans, over the age of 18, feel that Jacob Zuma is not performing well as President.
The poll further showed that 35% of South Africans thought that Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa was not doing his job well.
Interviews were conducted with 3 447 South Africans and it showed that more than seven out of ten South Africans of voting age felt that Zuma was not performing optimally.
A second poll taken with African National Congress (ANC) supporters of voting age was similarly negative about the President’s performance. It showed that 60% of ANC supporters were not happy with Zuma’s performance.
When asked to evaluate Zuma and Ramaphosa as a leader on a scale from 0 to 10, Zuma received 2.95 from South Africans, while Ramaphosa secured a 6.07 out of ten.
ANC supporters gave Zuma 4.19 out of ten, while Ramaphosa racked up a respectable 7.22.
Interviewees were randomly selected for the poll and interviews were conducted across the country – from metropolitan areas to rural areas.
