Vodacom is a South African telecommunications company and one of the continent's largest mobile network operators. The company is headquartered in Midrand, South Africa, and provides mobile voice, messaging, data, and converged services to more than 120-million customers across its operations. Vodacom operates in South Africa, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Lesotho and Kenya, with investments in additional markets including Safaricom in Kenya and Vodafone Egypt. The company is majority-owned by Vodafone Group and is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Vodacom's core business includes mobile telecommunications, fixed-line services through Vodacom Business, financial services through VodaPay and M-Pesa, and Internet of Things solutions. The company holds a significant market share in South Africa alongside competitor MTN and plays a central role in the country's digital infrastructure and connectivity. Vodacom is also active in enterprise and supplier development programmes aligned with South Africa's Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment legislation, supporting small, medium and micro enterprises through procurement and development initiatives. The company was established in 1994 as a joint venture and has grown to become a major player in African telecommunications, investing heavily in network expansion, fibre infrastructure and digital services across its footprint.
