Fikile Mbalula
Fikile Mbalula is a South African politician who serves as secretary-general of the African National Congress (ANC), a position he has held since December 2022. He is a member of the National Assembly and has been a prominent figure in South African politics for over two decades. Mbalula previously served as Minister of Transport from 2017 to 2021, where he oversaw the country's transport infrastructure and policy. Before that, he held the position of Minister of Police from 2012 to 2017 and Minister of Sport and Recreation from 2010 to 2012. Known for his active presence on social media and outspoken communication style, Mbalula has been a vocal advocate for ANC policies and frequently engages in public debate on political and governance issues. His tenure in various ministerial roles has seen him tackle challenges ranging from rail infrastructure modernisation to crime prevention and sports development. As ANC secretary-general, he plays a central role in the party's organisational structure and strategic direction during a period of significant political transition in South Africa. Mbalula's career has been marked by his loyalty to the ANC and his involvement in key policy debates affecting transport, security and party governance. He rose through the ANC Youth League before taking on senior government and party positions.
