Africa Energy Indaba
The Africa Energy Indaba is an annual conference and exhibition focused on energy policy, investment and infrastructure across the African continent. The event convenes government ministers, regulators, utilities, project developers, financiers and technology providers to discuss energy security, renewable energy deployment, grid expansion and the energy transition. It is not a sports event but a business and policy forum addressing electricity generation, transmission, distribution and access challenges in Africa. The Indaba features panel discussions, keynote addresses, project showcases and networking sessions aimed at mobilising capital and fostering partnerships for energy sector development. Participants include representatives from multilateral institutions such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank, as well as specialist programmes like the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). The event has become a significant platform for announcing policy initiatives, signing memoranda of understanding and profiling investment opportunities in both conventional and renewable energy. It typically takes place in South Africa and attracts delegates from across sub-Saharan Africa and international markets. The Africa Energy Indaba plays a role in shaping regional energy agendas and advancing dialogue on universal electricity access and climate-aligned energy systems.
