Solidarity presents concise report on retrenchment crisis

18th August 2015

At a media conference to be held today, the trade union Solidarity will present a concise report on the scope of the current retrenchment crisis in the country. The report will inter alia contain details about the retrenchment processes at various companies where the trade union represents members.

At the conference Solidarity will also introduce guidelines and support systems for employees directly affected by the crisis. This includes, among other things, financial advice, legal aid and social support by Solidarity Helping Hand.

“Given the increase in retrenchments, especially in the steel and mining sectors, Solidarity will introduce proposals to stem the continued retrenchments and the decline in the economy,” explained Piet le Roux, Head of the Solidarity Research Institute.

Members of the media are cordially invited to attend the media conference.
