Have faith based organisations done enough?
Religions should!take an active role in advancing the concept of equity. In addition, principles and practices of non-violence need to be taught and faith-based organisations need to actively educate people – it is not something that will come on its own.
The faith community has a responsibility but!there is an ethical dilemma. It needs to be clear and courageous in what it says, yet not take on the responsibility of!the politician’s work. There is a responsibility to expose, to publicly call out those political leaders that are doing their work under the banner of religion. Politicians co-opt faith by using it to baptise their policies.
