The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union’(SADTU) in the Free State notes and welcomes the appointment of the new Head of Department for Education, Advocate Tsoarelo Malakoane by the Hon. Premier Ace Magashule in terms of the Public Service Act (No. 103 of 1994).

We believe his experience in the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation will add more value to the education sector. He joins the sector with a historic performance in the 2016 Matric pass rate of being the first province to reach the threshold of 90% by obtaining 93.2%.

The Union congratulates the former HOD, Stanley Malope for leaving behind a well oiled system for sustainable quality results and a formidable force of committed teachers and officials. Comrade Malope having served in the structures of the union understood very well the important role that unions play as key stakeholder in this complex sector.

We wish him well in his new appointment in the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation.

The union is looking forward to a cordial working relationship with Adv.  Malakoane.
