The Dube Trade Port Special Economic Zone has added yet another multi-million rand project to its fast growing list of investors.
This follows the completion of the R99.2 million iDube Cold Storage which will open its doors on Tuesday, 8 August 2017 at an event that will be attended by the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr. Sihle Zikalala.
This is largest multi-purpose cold storage facility in KwaZulu-Natal, adding much needed cold storage capacity in the region. The facility will handle both chilled and frozen perishable cargo; with a capacity to handle 8600 mobile pallet positions, the 4700 sqm facility can store up to 12 000 tonnes of perishable product.
Commenting ahead of the launch, MEC Zikalala said the IDube Cold Storage facility would open up more employment opportunities in an area that had already done much to attract local and foreign investment into the province.
“The Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone has become one of the top 10 investment opportunities in the country and, along with the Richards Bay IDZ, is one of our two special economic zones which we are using to promote the attractiveness of our province as an investment destination.”
