The ANC national executive committee has disbanded the North West provincial executive, removing chairperson Supra Mahumapelo.

North West Premier Job Mokgoro has been appointed as the interim convener of the province.

He replaced Mahumapelo as the province's premier earlier this year.

The party’s highest decision-making body held a special NEC in Cape Town yesterday, meeting amidst divisions in that province.

Msimanga to reach out to EFF after motion of no confidence fails

Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga says he will reach out to the Economic Freedom Fighters after the political party's motion of no confidence in him was disallowed on a procedural point yesterday.

Council speaker Katlego Mathebe disallowed the EFF motion saying that it did not comply with the rules of council because it was not written and had no accompanying proposal.

Msimanga faced two motions of no confidence during a Tshwane council meeting yesterday, but both were not put to a vote.

The EFF's motion was dismissed and the ANC walked out on its own motion.

Opposition rattles purported skeletons in Mabuza's closet

In line with what has become the norm at Deputy President David Mabuza's question and answer sessions in Parliament, opposition MPs rattled the purported skeletons in his closet.

Mabuza skillfully answered with invitations to anyone who had concrete facts about allegations of fraud and political assassinations against him, to go to the police.

Much of the allegations of fraud levelled against Mabuza during yesterday's question and answer session in the National Assembly, centred on the alleged misappropriation of funds in school infrastructure during his tenure as premier of Mpumalanga.

The New York Times recently ran an article detailing how Mabuza allegedly siphoned cash from schools for his personal benefit and the patronage network that facilitated his rise to power in the ANC.

That’s a roundup of news making headlines today
