The ANC’s desperate attempt to defend President Zuma's irresponsible remarks, that businesses which support the ANC will see their fortunes ‘multiply’, reveals how little the governing party cares about the fight against corruption.
I will still be submitting my parliamentary question to Mr Zuma, asking him to clarify and retract his remarks. In terms of the rules of Parliament, the president will have to reply within a stipulated 10 day period. He must use this opportunity to distance himself from the insulting justifications of ANC spokesperson, Jackson Mthembu, and clarify in full whether his comments constitute government policy, and if not, state whether he will issue a formal retraction.
With corruption affecting the lives of millions of our most vulnerable citizens, President Zuma must do what is required of his high office and the constitution, and retract.
Anything less will be a tacit endorsement of a call for corruption.
