Looking for the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your management expertise? How about as a General Manager for a wind farm with over 70MW of generating capacity? Experience in a management role for a project of similar size is essential.
Our client, a heavy-weight champion in the wind sector, is looking for a General Manager that can hit the ground running. You would act on behalf of the board of directors, overseeing, and reporting on virtually every aspect of the plant operations. This includes the management of two equity investments.
As our ideal candidate, you are exceptional at engaging with stakeholders and project parties in both the private and public spheres, (Eg. Eskom, NERSA, DMRE).
This is an incredibly unique opportunity that requires an equally unique and multi-faceted individual. We are looking for an assertive, highly experienced leader that has exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance
OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with experience in operational finance
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive experience in project management for a project with a generation capacity of over 70MW
- Successful track record and sound reputation in the renewable energy industry
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you would oversee various aspects of our client’s wind project, reporting directly to the board. Your responsibilities would include operational, technical, contractual, financial, and compliance oversight, as well as managing risk, secretarial duties, and governance. You would ensure that the board and subcommittee meetings cover all aspects of the project.
Additionally, you would work with our client to implement action points from meetings and review meeting minutes. You would establish and monitor KPIs for contractors and service providers, consolidate reports, and deliver a monthly report to the board. This report would include analyses of management accounts, operations reports, risk assessments, and compliance updates. You would also report material developments to the board, manage correspondence with key parties, oversee distribution calculations and insurance matters, and assist with document management and procurement processes.
